The Caps’ road trip heads to Boston as a midweek clash between two of the best in the East awaits

After a rare two-day break, the Caps are back in action for some Wednesday Night Hockey in Boston. Two of the top teams in the East get set to duke it out for first place, and Zdeno Chara makes his long-awaited (but quiet) return to Boston for another throwdown with his old pals.

For the Caps, it’s a chance at a little revenge after consecutive blown third-period leads the last time these two teams met (one an eventual overtime win by the good guys, the other a lopsided win for the bad guys). And it marks the return of Evgeny Kuznetsov, who missed the weekend set in New Jersey with an upper-body injury.

More from today’s Clips:

  • Previews of tonight’s battle in Boston from Vogs, Washington Post, Peerless, NoVa Caps, and AP, and be sure to check out our SB Nation pals over at Stanley Cup of Chowder for the other side of this first-place throwdown.
  • Tonight marks Zdeno Chara’s first time back in Boston since signing in DC - and without the usual fanfare, he’s able to focus solely on helping the Caps win. [NHL, WashTimes, Globe]

Have at it, babes!
