Since February 16, the Caps have the fourth-best all-situation goals against per 60 in the League (2.26), with Vanecek going 7-2-1/.917/2.17 and Samsonov posting a 5-0-1/.921/2.22 line.
And as impressive as the two European netminders’ numbers have been, it’s important to note that it’s been a team effort – over that span starting February 16, the Caps have allowed the third-fewest shots on goal per 60 and the second-fewest scoring chances (which actually has them at the second-lowest expected goals-against rate, so make of the goalies’ contributions what you will).
