45 - Number of goals scored by the Capitals in second periods this season, most in the League (and the only team to have scored 40+ goals in the middle frame so far), with the second-best goal differential of +14, trailing only Montreal (+16).

Over the last six games, the Caps have outscored opponents in the second period 14-3, with at least two second-period goals in each of those six games. In fact, only four times this season have the Caps come out of the middle frame without a single goal.
