A look at a couple of snake-bitten Caps forwards

NHL: Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

0 - Even-strength goals scored by T.J. Oshie (16 games played) and Richard Panik (17) so far this season... but don’t expect that to last, as the two rank first and third on the team, respectively, in expected five-on-five goals (with 2.7 and 2.4 ixG; Jakub Vrana is nestled between the two).

In fact, per Natural Stat Trick, Oshie and Panik are second and fourth in the League in five-on-five ixG among players without a goal yet (Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson are first and third), fifth and fourth among that group in individual scoring chances (Taylor Hall is third, behind Arvidsson and Skinner), and third and eighth among that cohort in individual high-danger scoring chances. You get the point - these guys are due.

Here’s hoping that Oshie’s two-power-play-goal game on Sunday provides a spark to get him back in the five-on-five scoring column... where he belongs.
