The Caps’ forward depth vs. the worst “best” fourth line in the NHL. Jakub Vrana vs. Mathew Barzal. Tom Wilson vs. the fans. Evgeny Kuznetsov’s series-winner. The Easter Epic. And of course, the team Barry Trotz took to their first Stanley Cup against Barry Trotz.
There’s a long and storied playoff history between these two organizations, but most of it took place in the 20th century. In fact, the only time they’ve faced off in the last two decades was, coincidentally, Trotz’s first playoff series with the Caps. Now they get a chance to renew acquaintances, with their former coach behind the bench and another former Cap in net.
