2 - Number of wins for the Caps since the start of 2020 (22 games played) when Alex Ovechkin doesn’t have a goal. Ovechkin has scored at least one goal in 11 of the 22, with the team going 8-2-1 in those games; without an Ovechkin goal, their record drops to 2-9-0.

One of the reasons the Capitals have had as much success as they’ve had in recent years - and part of why they won the Cup - is that they’ve been able to supplement Ovechkin’s incredible goal-scoring with offensive depth, and have found ways to win when he gets shut down or is out of the lineup. Over the last two+ seasons, the team is a respectable 62-49-15 overall when Ovechkin fails to score a goal.

They need to tap into that sooner rather than later, because right now Ovechkin is doing what he can to carry the team - and he needs more support.
