The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Daniel Sprong from the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Christian Djoos, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.
Sprong, 22, a native of Amsterdam, Netherlands, recorded two points (1g, 1a) in eight games with the Ducks this season. Sprong has recorded 27 points (11g, 16a) in 39 games with the San Diego Gulls in the AHL, ranking fourth on the team in points.
The 5’11”, 191-pound forward has 30 points (19g, 11a) in 97 NHL games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim. In 104 career AHL games, Sprong has 92 points (43g, 49a).
Sprong was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round, 46th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Djoos, 25, played in two games for the Capitals this season. In 42 games with Hershey, Djoos recorded 32 points (5g, 27a). In 110 career NHL games, all with the Capitals, Djoos recorded 24 points (4g, 20a).
