Ovechkin has missed an incredibly low 30 games in his 14+ seasons, with the team posting a record of 14-14-2 in those Ovechkin-less games.

Ovechkin’s last absence was around this time last season when he served another one-game suspension for missing the All-Star Game; the team downed the Flames 4-3 without their captain. Prior to that, he hadn’t missed a game in roughly three seasons — which was probably for the best, because in the six games he missed between January 2014 and April 2016 coincided with six losses for the Caps.
