NHL: Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

19.8 - Percent of Carolina’s goals this season that were scored by their defense, second-highest percent in the League (behind only Minnesota’s 20.95%) and tops among all playoff-bound teams. Carolina led the NHL in goals from the blueline in 2018-19 with 48 (led by Dougie Hamilton’s 18 and Justin Faulk’s 11).

On the flip side, the Caps’ 35 goals by defensemen, while middle of the pack in terms of totals, accounted for just 12.8% of their overall production this season.
