The Hurricanes completely and utterly dominated play the first 10 minutes, allowing Washington only one shot in the first half of the frame.

Then the rain started.

Nicklas Backstrom scored TWICE in five minutes, once on a gorgeous even-strength snipe and once with a sneaky backdoor tap-in on a power play.

An additional Alex Ovechkin power play blast put the Capitals up 3-0 after twenty minutes here in D.C.
