5 – Number of season-series sweeps for the Caps of at least three games, just the second time in franchise history that they’ve had as many (2015-16 being the other). Last night’s win over the ‘Canes also wrapped up the third four-game sweep of the season, the first time they’ve ever done that in a single campaign, with all three series sweeps coming against Metropolitan Division opponents (Philadelphia and the Rangers rounding out the trio).
Along with those Metro sweeps, the Caps won all three games against Detroit and Ottawa, along with both games vs. the Flames, Avalanche, Kings and Canucks.
