The Noon Number: Workhorses

278 – Number of games played by Dmitry Orlov (regular season and playoffs) since the start of the 2016-17 season, tied for first over that span with Pittsburgh’s Phil Kessel and just narrowly edging out teammate Alex Ovechkin (277). Orlov is the only Capital to have appeared in all 82 games in both 2016-17 and 2017-18 (plus 37 total in the playoffs), along with all 77 so far this season.

The Caps actually have quite a few players who have played a bunch of hockey in the last three seasons plus playoffs – helped in part by their lengthy postseason run last spring, some good health overall, and a penchant for long playoff series. Along with Orlov and Ovechkin, four other Caps are in the top 10 in that department, with Lars Eller (275), Nicklas Backstrom (272), Evgeny Kuznetsov (269), and John Carlson (267) rounding out the group.
