The Noon Number: Multitasking

15 – Number of players in Capitals franchise history who have scored at least 20 goals and picked up at least 100 penalty minutes in a single season. Tom Wilson became the latest to join that exclusive club with his 20th goal last night against the Flyers, having already crossed the century mark in PIM with 101, and is the first Cap to do so since Chris Clark’s 20 goals/110 penalty minutes back in 2005-06.

Unsurprisingly, the Capital with the most 20-goal/100-PIM seasons under his belt is Dale Hunter, who accomplished the feat an impressive (?) five times during his tenure in DC; Ryan Walter is right behind him with three seasons, while Mike Gartner and Geoff Courtnall both did it twice as Caps. Kevin Hatcher and Al Iafrate remain the only defensemen in that group, each hitting those marks in the 1992-93 season.

Wilson becomes just the second player in the NHL this season to hit 20+ goals/100+ PIM, joining San Jose’s Evander Kane (27 goals/149 PIM/64 GP).
