The Noon Number: Devante Smith-Playoffs

A look at how DSP has elevated his game when it mattered

.27 - Devante Smith-Pelly’s goals-per-game rate in his playoff career, with 13 goals in 48 games played including seven in 24 games en route to last year’s Cup win. That’s a huge leap from his career regular-season output, which is .11 goals per game (44 goals in 395 games played).

While DSP has struggled this season - he has just four goals and eight points this year and has missed a handful of games as a healthy scratch - there’s no doubt that he’s been able to take his game up a level or two when the playoffs roll around.

Perhaps most impressive about last year’s output in particular was the fact that five of his seven goals were scored in the Eastern Conference Final or the Stanley Cup Final (where he scored in the final three games of the series, including the iconic game-tying goal in Game 5).
