With Orlov on the ice, the Caps have generated 54 high-danger chances of their own (tied for fifth-best in the NHL) and surrendered 61 high-danger chances against (most in the League). The astute reader will notice that Orlov’s high-danger pace (his event rate) isn’t tops in the League. (And it’s worth noting that there are issues with the NHL’s shot location data for games prior to October 16 that may impact the numbers a bit.) But the point remains - when Dmitry Orlov is on the ice at five-on-five, things are happening (and they’re not all good, as that ~47% HDCF% indicates).
