The Capitals opened up the second period with two goals in 2:06; John Carlson extended his point streak with a goal just 35 seconds in, and...hold on, let me check my notes...Chandler Stephenson? Yes, that’s right, the Chan Man got his first goal of the season! The Flames got two back with power play tallies from Elias Lindholm and Austin Czarnik, but Alex Ovechkin scored ten seconds after Czarnik’s goal to regain the lead.

This was a much better period for the Caps, but if they want to hold onto this lead, they’re going to need to spend a biiiit more time in the Calgary zone in the final period and get their game in sync. Shoutout to Braden Holtby for keeping them in the game. 3-2 Caps after 40.
