25 - Number of points earned by John Carlson over the last two Octobers, which leads all defensemen (narrowly edging out Toronto’s Morgan Rielly) and is tied with Mitch Marner and Leon Draisaitl for third-most overall. Carlson opened the 2018-19 season with 14 points in 10 games last October, his best October to date, and currently has 11 points through the first seven games this month — with seven games remaining to top his previous high.

Carlson has gotten off to strong starts pretty regularly over the course of his career. His points-per-game rate of .68 in the season’s opening month is second only to his December rate (.70), and he’s racked up 11 goals and 60 points in 88 October games overall.
