A look at some early struggles for the Caps’ starting netminder

-3.89 - Braden Holtby’s current goals-saved above average (GSAA) rate at all strengths, per Natural Stat Trick, fourth-worst among all NHL goaltenders. Holtby has given up 15 goals in his four starts, 12 of which were scored at even strength, for an overall save percentage of .868 (.867 at even strength).

And while he doesn’t shoulder the bulk of the blame for the Caps’ recent struggles - particularly late in games - he’s also not making the saves that he needs to make in order to avoid those struggles.
