The Noon Number: Locking it Down

25.5 – Average number of shots on goal allowed per game by the Capitals through four games this season, fewest in the League. To date the Caps have kept every opponent under 30 shots. The highest shot total – 28 – was registered by Carolina in the 3-2 home opener loss, while the lowest was the 22 SA performance against the defending champs in St. Louis opening night.

As always, small sample caveats abound at this time of the season – but it’s worth noting that through four games last year, the Caps were giving up an average of 33.25 shots per night.
