Those last five minutes of the first period where it seemed like the Capitals were picking things up clearly did not carry over to the second, as Washington had trouble yet again getting into a steady rhythm until the end of the period. Neither team managed to score, but perhaps the Caps have a bigger issue to worry about: Braden Holtby left the game 11 minutes in after taking a high stick from Cam Atkinson. He looked like he was having trouble keeping his left eye open before heading down the tunnel and being replaced by Pheonix Copley.
