Third period ahead.

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

OH BOY, HEEEERE WEEEE GO!

Halfway through the period, with Devante Smith-Pelly providing Matt Niskanen his stick to replace a broken one on the rush, Jake Guentzel caught a Braden Holtby rebound at the corner of the crease and slung it into the net to give the Penguins the early lead, 1-0.

But with THAT VERY SAME Jake Guentzel in the penalty box for tripping Lars Eller, T.J. Oshie one-timed a bullet from the low slot to tie it 1-1 on the power play.

BUT THEN, BECAUSE LIFE IS A TRAGIC OUROBOROS, with T.J Oshie in the box for slashing Brian Dumoulin, Evgeni Malkin snuck a puck in past Braden Holtby that replay review couldn’t save the Capitals from, and this one is 2-1 after two.

Third period ahead...
