(Further, only Zdeno Chara, with 12, has played in more Games 7 among active players, with Patrick Roy and Scott Stevens holding the all-time mark with a lucky 13 Game 7 appearances.)

Ovechkin and Backstrom’s Caps have gone 3-7 over the previous ten Games 7 (with one of those wins coming on the road, back in 2012 in Boston), and here’s how they’ve performed, individually, in those games (Ovechkin first, then Backstrom):
