After a trouncing at the hands of the Ducks in Anaheim on Tuesday night, the Caps still had an opportunity to make the west coast roadie a winning endeavor by winning in both Los Angeles and San Jose — and Caps brass decided to turn to Phillip Grubauer to get the job done in lieu of some extended struggles from Braden Holtby.
That hallucination came to a premature terminus at the hands of Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis, in spite of Jakub Vrana’s best efforts.
Caps 1 Los Angeles 3
Here’s Tuesday night’s Plus/Minus:
- Plus: Jakub Vrana has now scored in two of the last three games after a prolonged goalless streak. Vrana’s been one of the best possession forwards on the team for a bit now, but hasn’t been getting the bounces. Gonna be tough to rationalize keeping this guy out of the lineup going forward...(and that’s not a challenge, HCBT...)
- Minus: That’s two losses in a row for the good guys, and three of the last four, with the division having snapped tight, and the playoffs right around the corner. Annapolis was nice, but with San Jose right around the corner, where the Caps wins are rare as hens’ teeth, that night is quickly fading into the rearview.
And now this...
