Capitals vs. Rangers Second Period Thread

Second period thread.

NHL: New York Rangers at Washington Capitals Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Two interesting bits of tomfoolery in the first period - besides a strong showing from rookie Shane Gersich!

First, video review revealed a goal-line stop by Braden Holtby had indeed, actually, been a power play trickler goal for Kevin Hayes, making it 1-0 Rangers.

Then, Evgeny Kuznetsov received a penalty shot after being slashed on his injured arm. He glided to the bench doubled over in pain before taking the shot, which Henrik Lundqvist successfully saved.

AND WITH 32 SECONDS LEFT, Andre Burakovsky ripped a gorgeous Swedish fish from the right circle to finish off a tic-tac paddywhack from T.J. Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom, and it’s tied 1-1 after one!

Second period ahead...
