The Caps bounced back from their embarrassing loss to Columbus, beating Ottawa 3-2. The Caps were weak in some respects, but the Evgeny Kuznetsov line was at its best, and Philipp Grubauer was sharp.

Ten more notes on the game:
The formula for this game was a bit different. The Caps showed a fair bit of energy for the second game of a back-to-back, and didn’t sit back as much in the third as they seem to usually. Jakub Jerabek also had a decent (i.e. quiet) debut, and assuming Kempny and John Carlson will be stronger moving forward, the Caps could have reliable puck-moving on all three pairs. That goes a long way toward getting players like Alex Ovechkin, Andre Burakovsky, and Kuznetsov going in transition.
Next up: the Stadium Series game versus Toronto.
