The McDavid Show™ is in town for one night only, and the first period lived up to the three-ring hype.

Jakub Vrana got the scoring started, crashing the net behind fourth-line partner and newly-returned center Travis Boyd to make it 1-0 early.

Boyd wasn’t done in the first, making a great, strong play in the slot to drop a perfect pass to Devante Smith-Pelly. Mr. Snipe-Celly did not miss, and it was 2-0 Capitals.

But with Alex Ovechkin in the penalty box for a questionable slashing call, Connor McDavid stepped into the high circle with the puck and ripped a long-distance wrister past Pheonix Copley and into the net to cut Washington’s lead to 2-1 after twenty minutes.

Second period ahead...
