A look at a longtime duo and some recent success

5.72 - The RelCF at five on five when Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom have been on the same line together, dating back to the start of last season (~631 minutes). While Backstrom has had similar success since being moved to the “second” line (5.33 RelCF alongside T.J. Oshie in about 678 even-strength minutes) Ovechkin hasn’t been quite as good without his longtime linemate - in fact, since joining forces with Evgeny Kuznetsov last year, 8 and 92 have combined for a rather pedestrian RelCF of -1.56 (~753 minutes).
