The Noon Number: Wandering West

A look at how the Caps have fared in recent Western Canadian swings

NHL: Washington Capitals at Calgary Flames Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

.458 - The Capitals’ combined win percentage on the road against the Canucks, Flames, and Oilers, dating back to the start of the 2005-06 season. In 24 visits to Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton, the Caps have won 11 times and have an overall record of 11-12-1 (a points percentage of .479).

That’s not exactly the best news, but the silver(ish) lining is that they’ve trended in the right direction in recent years, winning six of their last nine games - including the only sweep of the three back in 2015. They also hold a narrow goals advantage over those opponents, having outscored them 73-69 overall (thanks in large part to a couple of lopsided victories in the last two years).
