11 – Number of Caps players to have scored a goal so far this season, with Matt Niskanen becoming the latest to join the club with his overtime winner Wednesday night. Last season, it took until Game 10 for the team to have as many as 11 goal scorers, Chandler Stephenson becoming the 11th with his first career goal an eventual 6-2 loss to Vancouver.
Niskanen also became the third Caps’ defenseman to score a goal already this season, joining John Carlson and Brooks Orpik (!); the Caps didn’t have three blueliners with goals until Game 15 last season, with John Carlson’s goal in a win over Arizona on 11/6 rounding out a trio with Christian Djoos and Taylor Chorney.
