3 - Number of combined goals for Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, Jakub Vrana and Andre Burakovsky over the last month. In fact, of that group, only Backstrom (two) and Kuznetsov (one) have found the back of the net in the last 12 games. (Tom Wilson, who has also spent time in the top six during this stretch, has one goal as well.)

Since December 23, the team’s offense has largely relied on Alex Ovechkin - who has continued to chug right along with six goals - and the combined forces of Lars Eller (also six) and Brett Connolly (five). Even the Caps’ blueline has more than twice as many goals as the top-six forwards outside of Ovechkin, with seven goals by defensemen in the last 12 games.
