23 - Number of days remaining until the 2017-18 season. But it’s also...

...the number of goals scored by Nicklas Backstrom in 2016-17, his second-highest career total. Backstrom cracked the 20-goal mark for the fourth time in his 10-year career, and was one of five Capitals (Alex Ovechkin, Marcus Johansson, T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams) to score at least 20 goals last season.

Backstrom finished the season with 86 points - not only the third-best mark of his career, but also the fourth-best point total in the League behind only Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby (89 points each) and Connor McDavid (100).
