Well, the evening’s festivities will consist of two main pieces: the expansion draft reveal and the actual awards. So let’s talk about the requirements Vegas GM George McPhee had to meet while building his team through the expansion draft:

We’ve talked a little bit about what the Caps have done to maximize their protected players, as well as who was and was not available to be selected. Now all that’s left is to wait and see who actually gets picked… or if there was a deal to be had in order to salvage a key piece. Will Philipp Grubauer be warming the crease in Vegas, or will it be Nate Schmidt taking his beaming smile to the desert?
Time will tell, and it will happen slowly; the Vegas roster is expected to be released in snippets throughout the evening. So… that’s fun.
