The Noon Number: On Their Best Behavior

3 – Number of times the Capitals have gone shorthanded over the last three games combined, taking just one penalty in each game.

Per Ben Raby, that’s the first time in at least 15 years that the team has had to kill just three penalties over a three-game stretch; by our rough calculations, it’s not something that has happened since at least the 1996-97 season (although four PKs in three games is something that has happened as recently as this past February).

Obviously it’s only three games… but after a recent stretch of undisciplined play, it would be nice to think that the Caps have taken strides to fix something that could easily be their undoing come playoffs.
