The Noon Number: California… and Bust?

3.43 – Goals-against per game rate for the Capitals in their last seven games in California, dating back to the beginning of the Barry Trotz era. Small sample size caveats abound, of course, but that’s a marked difference from how they’ve performed on the road in general over the last two-plus seasons, giving up just 2.45 goals per game overall (279 goals allowed in 114 games total).

The Caps have just three wins in those seven visits to the Big Three (San Jose, Anaheim and Los Angeles), and just one victory in regulation. That said, most of the games have been close, with a goal differential of just -5 over that span.

Here’s hoping the Caps can turn it around when they face LA tomorrow night at Staples Center… a building in which they have just one win since 2005.
