24 – Consecutive regular-season months in which the Capitals managed at least a .500 points percentage… a streak which ended in October, when the Caps finished the month at 5-6-1, a .458 points percentage.
With the end of the streak, October 2017 becomes the first month under Barry Trotz in which the Caps failed to earn at least half the points in a given month; the last time that happened was January 2014 under Adam Oates.
The Caps currently sit two points out of the second Wild Card spot, and four points out of the Division’s top three, with 70 games remaining. In other words… there’s plenty of time left, but plenty of work to be done.
