The rip-roarin’ new 2017-2018 season got off to a fast-paced start in Ottawa! Senators defenseman Chris Wideman threw a “why not” shot from a sharp angle towards the cage, and it squirted through Braden Holtby’s armpit and into the net to give the Senators a 1-0 lead.
Which led some folks to worry:

But salvation came in the form of Lars Eller and Brett Connolly, who combined for a beautiful goal to tie it 1-1 at the break.
