The Noon Number: Road Warriors

.700 – The Capitals’ points percentage in road games so far this season, posting a 3-1-1 record in their five games. The team has actually been outscored in games away from DC to this point, giving up 21 goals to their 18 (and have been outshot 169 to 146 over that span), but has come away with three of their four wins on the season.

Perhaps the biggest reason? The power play, which has sputtered at home, has been dominant on the road, with seven goals on 17 opportunities for a 41.2% efficiency rate – second only to the Penguins to this point.

It’s not unusual for the Caps to perform well outside of DC, of course; last season they posted the third-highest road win total (23), and were tied for the second-best points percentage at a healthy .634.
