ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals right wing T.J. Oshie has been named the NHL’s “Third Star” for the week ending Jan. 22, the NHL announced today.
Oshie recorded six points (3g, 3a) in three games to power the League-leading Capitals (31-9-6, 68 points) to five out of a possible six standings points. He posted three points (1g, 2a), his third three-point performance of the season, in an 8-7 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 16. Oshie then recorded two points (1g, 1a) in a 7-3 victory over his former team, the St. Louis Blues, on Jan. 19 and scored the tying goal in a 4-3 overtime win against the Dallas Stars on Jan. 21. The Everett, Wash., native ranks fifth on the Capitals with 31 points (17g, 14a) in 38 games this season.
