Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

9 - Number of points earned by John Carlson through nine playoff games so far. Carlson is the first Caps blueliner to pick up nine points in the first nine games of the postseason since Sylvain Cote did it back in 1994.

His assist against the Penguins on Monday gave him points in three straight games and moved him into the team lead in points (and a tie with Nicklas Backstrom for a team-leading six assists). He's also tied for first among NHL defensemen in goals (3), second in points (9) and is tied for second in assists (6) this postseason.

Carlson currently ranks fifth in assists (19), tied for fifth in goals (9) and sixth in points (28) and games played (60) among defensemen in franchise playoff history.
