The Noon Number: Locking it Down

A look at how the Caps have fared when taking an early lead

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

.952 - The Capitals' League-best win percentage this season (via a 20-0-1 record) when leading after the first period. Prior to last night's loss, they were the only team in the NHL without a blemish when holding a lead after twenty minutes, and remain the only team to not have done so in regulation.

In fact, since Barry Trotz took over behind the bench, the team is 46-2-3 in those games (a League-best .902 win percentage), and had won 26 straight when up after the first period, dating back to a loss against the Wild on March 5, 2015.
