The Noon Number: Time to Fix the Donuts

3 – Number of times the Caps have been shut out through regulation in their last six games, with two of those games ending as shutout losses (the third game being the 1-0 overtime win in New Jersey).

Prior to this recent six-game stretch, the Caps had not been shut out since a 1-0 loss in Detroit on November 10, and were tied with Minnesota, Montreal and Detroit for the second-fewest shutouts with two (Dallas leads the League with just one shootout loss).

For the last time the Caps were held without a goal through regulation three times in six chances, you’d have to go all the way back to the 1998-99 campaign… when it happened in three of the season’s final six games (including the last two of the year).
