The Noon Number: Shooting Blanks

A look at a rare blanking in the shootout

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

0 - Number of shootout goals scored by the Caps in last night's loss to Philadelphia, the first time this season that they've been held off the board in the shootout and only the second time in two seasons.

That the Caps have managed to score at least once in shootouts this year is largely due, of course, to the one-on-one abilities of T.J. Oshie, who has scored on 66.7% of his shootout attempts (four of six). That leads the team, and ranks third in the NHL among all players who have taken at least five shootouts this season.
