A look at a dark history for some current Caps

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

945 - Number of regular-season games played by current Caps Brooks Orpik, Matt Niskanen, Taylor Chorney and Daniel Winnik for the Pittsburgh Penguins (plus another 62 for current Hershey Bear Zach Sill). That quartet also accounted for 141 playoff appearances for the 'Burgh, with Orpik winning a Stanley Cup with the team in 2009.

Orpik was drafted by the Penguins in 2000, while Niskanen was acquired from the Stars via trade in 2011 and Winnik from the Leafs (for Sill, in fact) ahead of last year's deadline. Chorney signed as a free agent with the Penguins in July 2014.

A speckled history, to be sure... but we forgive them.
