A look at the (regular season) Trotz Era Caps

NHL: St. Louis Blues at Washington Capitals Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

.672 - Capitals’ points percentage since the start of the 2014-15 season - when Barry Trotz took over behind the bench - highest in the League (the Rangers are second at .654), via a 116-51-22 record. Those 116 wins are second-most to the Rangers (but the Caps have three games in hand), the 51 regulation losses are the fewest (St. Louis is second with 56), and the 73 total losses are the fewest (the Rangers have 75).

Fueling the regular season success? The Caps have allowed the fewest goals (446; Minnesota 453) and have the lowest goals-against per game (2.36; Chicago 2.40).

As for the coach, via Caps Today: “Barry Trotz earned his 673rd NHL win on Wednesday against Boston, passing Mike Keenan (672) for eighth place on the all-time NHL coaching wins list. Trotz also sits two games shy of passing Keenan (1,386) for ninth place on the NHL games coached list.”
