The Noon Number: Metropolitan Missteps

A look at how the Caps have fared against their Metro neighbors

0.25 - The Capitals’ points percentage against the Metropolitan Division so far this season. In eight games against division rivals, the Caps have won just twice, posting a 2-4-2 record overall and scoring just 17 goals.

In fact, the Caps have not scored more than two goals total in a game against a fellow occupant of the Metro Division this season... with one exception, their 7-1 thrashing of the Penguins last month. Only three of their 17 total goals have come on the power play (two of which were in that lopsided game vs. Pittsburgh), and they’ve ceded six power-play goals against on 25 opportunities.

The Caps have 22 intra-division games remaining on their schedule, starting with tonight’s visit to Brooklyn for a date with the Islanders.
