The Noon Number: Shutting it Down

20 – Number of shots given up by the Caps in last night’s win over Vancouver, including just a single shot in the ten minutes of power-play time for the Canucks. That’s the second-fewest shots for a Caps’ opponent this season, behind only the 18 shots given up to the Avalanche in another 3-0 victory back in October.

While these two games are outliers, it’s part of a larger trend for the team this year. The Caps have held teams to fewer than 30 shots in 18 of their 27 games overall, and average 28.1 shots-against per game – sixth-lowest in the League.
