The Noon Number: Rockin’ the Blues

A look at the captain’s dominance against St. Louis

NHL: Preseason-St. Louis Blues at Washington Capitals Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

20 - Number of points scored by Alex Ovechkin in 13 career games against the St. Louis Blues. That leads all Eastern Conference players, dating back to the 2005-06 season (2005-2013 configuration; 2013-present); in second place, right behind him, is Nicklas Backstrom with 17 points in 12 career games.

Only three other active players have racked up double-digit points (as Eastern Conference players) against St. Louis over that span - David Krejci (12 points in 12 games), Evgeni Malkin (11 points in 11 games) and Brandon Dubinsky (10 points in 12 games).

Ovechkin’s 20 points vs. the Blues also ties his career-high total against any Western Conference opponent, matching the 20 points he’s picked up in 13 games against the Flames.
