7 - Number of days remaining until the 2016-17 season. But it's also...
...the number of 50-goal seasons for Alex Ovechkin, including last season, when he hit the 50-goal mark in the second-to-last game of the year.
No one in franchise history has ever recorded more than two seasons with at least 50 goals; in fact, Ovechkin has scored 50+ goals one more time than all of the Caps' other 50-goal scorers combined (Peter Bondra, 2; Dennis Maruk, 2; Bob Carpenter, 1; Mike Gartner, 1).
Even more impressive is the fact that only two players in League history have achieved this feat more than Ovechkin - Mike Bossy and Wayne Gretzky, who have nine 50-goal seasons apiece.
