Your savory breakfast links:
- Recaps and other assorted musings on last night's win from us, Vogs, Monumental video (Trotz, locker room)], NHL.com, AP, WaPo, Peerless, CSNMA (gamer, rewind), RMNB, FiCP, NoVa Caps, Miami Herald (plus photos), and Litter Box Cats.
- Milestone #1 - Jaromir Jagr scored his first goal of the season, which also happened to be the 750th goal of his storied NHL career. He joins Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe as the sole members of one of the most exclusive fraternities in sport. [NHL.com, Miami Herald]
- The Capitals’ penalty-killers certainly had a nice view of history being made - all except Braden Holtby, who was screened quite professionally by Jonathan Marchessault:
Here's Jaromir Jagr's 750th career goal. Becomes the third player in NHL history to reach the plateau, after Howe (801) and Gretzky (894). pic.twitter.com/mS2IkFIESS

Milestone #2 - Justin Williams got the scoring started early in the game with a pass from a driving and dealing Nate Schmidt. The goal not only got the third line off the schneid but was also Williams’ 250th NHL goal. Congrats, Stick! [NVC]
That is the 250th goal of Justin Williams' NHL career. Not bad for a guy from Cobourg, Ont.

Thanks Chris. I'm closing in on Jagr, he only got goal number 750 tonight...should catch him soon WOW https://t.co/xmdzGeLmwq

- Milestone #3 - Alex Ovechkin crashed the net and deflected a Matt Niskanen point shot to put the Caps up for good in the third. The goal was his 527th career NHL goal and also his 90th game-winner. The goal moves him to number 18 on the NHL all-time gamewinner leaderboard, one better than Luc Robitaille, tied with Mike Gartner, and one down from the Great One himself. [RMNB]

- These milestones are nice and all but OMG DANIEL WINNIK BLOCKED A SHOT WITH HIS MELON WAIT WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS WHAT? Oh right, part of his ear has gone missing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [WaPo, CSNMA, RMNB, Puck Daddy, theScore, NVC]
Listening to tape of Trotz talking about this, and he was so nonchalant. "He was just fine, just missing a piece of his ear."

- Matt Niskanen and Karl Alzner are two peas snuggled into their top-pairing shutdown defensive pod. When they are not mowing their lawns, perfecting their grilled pork shoulder recipes or hosting play dates for their children, they are making life miserable for top forward lines around the league... [SI.com (Alex Prewitt)]
- ... and also, the Alzners have a really nice house. [Home and Design]
- Speaking of which, Ovi showed us just a bit of his man cave. [NVC]
- Also, ALL HAIL OUR ROBOT OVERLORDS! [Caps Fans Report]
- Updates for the Caps’ prospect pool.[CSNMA]
- Finally, young prospect goalie Ilya Samsonov is only 19 and already hosting master classes for cute li’l kiddies. [Rink]
