The Noon Countdown: Home Sweet Home

25 – Number of days remaining until the 2015-16 season. But it’s also…

…the number of goals scored by Alex Ovechkin in the friendly confines of Verizon Center last season, the most home goals scored in the League (three more than Steven Stamkos‘ second-place total).

The gap between Ovechkin and the rest of the League is slightly wider when looking at the entire scope of his career. Since making his debut in 2005, the Caps’ captain has scored 237 goals in front of the hometown crowd (with another 21 in the playoffs, tied for sixth-most over that span). The next guy on the list? Jarome Iginla, who checks in with “just” 176.
